At least 100, 000 ha of natural areas are protected through the implication of the local communities and organisations.
Transmission of the acquired experiences during the program.
The intervention zones of Tany Meva are: the Eastern part of Madagascar represented by the Maroantsetra region in the green belt of Makira, in the South with Midongy and the Sept Lacs forest (Seven Lakes).

Our Criteria:
-Site with important biological value
-Active engagement of the local communities.

Makira / Maroantsetra Project:
This year will be a year when the micro finance will be launched in Makira as green credit for a 3-year period.

In partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Tany Meva has invested in Makira with the funding from the Mac Arthur American Foundation so as to allow the implementation of new management transfers and also the capacity building of the VOI or the basic communities for the implementation of income generator activities. In addition, WCS has got the agreement of the MINENVEF to ensure the International Marketing of the Makira Carbon, which will be managed by Tany Meva.

Achievements:
The implementation of 6 new management transfers and the reinforcement of 10 old management transfers realised in Makira, 40,500 ha of managed transfers by the community around the Protected Area of Makira and the reinforcement of 16 VOI on the themes related to the management transfer, to the sustainable activities of exploitation of the forest resources and agricultural techniques that are improving the yield.

The project has started in July of this year and will be operational during 20 months
Its objectives are to:
-Protect the key sites for biodiversity conservation of the ecosystems of the humid and dry forests of Madagascar through their subscription on the list of the sites of Global Heritage.
-Improve the management of the whole sites of the humid forests of the Atsinanana Global Heritage according to the management standards of the Global Heritage Convention.
-Extend the sites of the humid forests of the Atsinanana Global Heritage according to the recommendations of the UICN follow-up mission.
