ALA MEVA or Reforestation
2655 ha replanted within 3 years in 7 regions of Madagascar.
The ALA MEVA Programme is based on the creation or the restoration of forestry spaces under the responsibility and with the contribution of local and community organisations (OLC). The program aims at improving the life of the communities and also allows Madagascar achieve its engagement goals in the frame of the conventions on the Climate Changes.

Reforestation in Diego

Provided that the majority of the communities are not yet able to manage efficiently the projects of tree planting, Tany Meva has concentrated its goal for 2007 on the technical and organisational capacity building of the OLC for best quality of peopling.

Our Criteria :
-Immediate availability of an extensible field for tree planting (more than 20 ha for each tenant)
-Hectare cost of the project
-Reliability of the vision and the approach for the implementation and the sustainable management of the activities
-Integration of the project in the regional and local priorities
-Engagement and contributing ability of the local beneficiary communities
-Regional repartition of the projects
-Projects originality

Achievements :
2655 ha replanted within 3 years in 7 regions of Madagascar, in 24 rural communities around 24 sites. The beneficiaries are made up of 20 farmers associations, 2 rural communities, 1 VOI and 2 cooperatives.

The action plan for this year 2007 is focused on the improvement of 14 sites of the Ala Meva program. Quality of tree planting: some sites no more need improvement given advancing situation of the project: on starting phase.
